The Fountain of Life in Community

David Karchere

We who publish this Pulse of Spirit are practitioners of the One Faith of all humanity, the One Faith behind all faiths and without which the practice of any faith falls short. This is a faith in the Creator, a faith in the unfolding creative process, and the evolving destiny of the planet and humankind. This is the One Faith in ourselves as a human being and the One Faith in all of us as humankind. So we are here as practitioners of this one faith.

We are serving in a field of consciousness where there has come to be a lack of faith. And so we are bringing a restoration of faith and a restoration of the knowledge of who we are that is the origin of faith. This is a restoration of our primal spirituality, our first spirituality that is the inspiration behind all the world’s faiths. This is the spirituality with which we were born.

For we, who are Americans, this is the knowledge and the faith that we bring to our country on this July Fourth Independence Day.

So, with that, we are going to go more deeply into the movement of the torus.

In last week’s Pulse of Spirit, we were exploring the torus in the human experience. This torus is the shape of Creation and the universal flow of the energy of Creation. You see it in galaxies, like the Milky Way, and in an atom. You see it in a human being.

If you want to envision the flow of the torus in your mind, you can imagine a moving donut with the lines of force and the flow of energy coming up out of the center of that donut and coming out into the world around the donut, then returning at the center below. And that is how it is for us, as human beings. Acts of praise and thanksgiving allow the flow up to the source of Creation within us. And when it does, the arms of the Creator come down around us as the torus.

If you raise your arms up to the heavens in praise, perhaps you can feel the rising energy within your body. And perhaps you can also feel an energy descending into you, touching your heart center and radiating through you. This is an experience of yourself as an individual manifestation of the torus. This Pulse of Spirt is a further exploration of the torus and how it works in spiritual community, especially this community of people from around the globe who read this Pulse of Spirit. For me, this is my spiritual community. And I invite you to say the same, to own this community as your community. A community changes when those who participate know it as their own.

The torus is a manifestation of the Law of Karma which is the Law of Cause and Effect. The causative factor emerges from the center of the torus, and what comes back is the effect. This is true wherever the torus appears throughout Creation, including in the human experience. So what comes back to us has a lot to do with what is coming out from us. The prophet, Isaiah, says it this way: My word…shall not return unto me void. (Isaiah 55:11) Every true cause has an effect. What comes out from the center of the torus is the creative Word, and it comes back having had a creative impact.

Consider a fountain. It operates on the principle of the torus. The water spurts out the top. This is like our praise to the heavens. It then falls down around the sides into the pool below. It then rises back up into the fountain to continue in the creative flow. There it is, a living picture of the flow of Creation.

That is a picture of us. That is how we are made. And the water that flows up and flows out the top is our gratitude and our praise and thanksgiving. It is our joy in living. Our joy in living allows for the ascension of spiritual substance up through us—the rising incense in our body temples, with love and gratitude for the heavenly source of all life. We are a fountain—a living, flowing temple.

We have many names for the heavenly source in the faiths of the world. And the faiths of the world argue with each other about the names that they use and the ways that they address that One that they name differently, and how they practice their faith—not realizing that what is meaningful about any faith is how it embodies the One Faith, and what you call the reality of the source of things does not matter so much, as long as that name connects you to the reality of it in your heart and mind; as long as your songs of praise and thanksgiving in your life rise; as long as your heart touches that One. Said in a Christian context, How great Thou art! How beautiful, how wonderful the source of Creation that is behind all this, that gives me my life every day, in every moment! How great Thou art! How beautiful is the life I have! How wondrous is your love, the love that is given to us, the love that we have the honor to pass on!

In last week’s Pulse of Spirit, we explored how it is that when there is praise and thanksgiving for the source of our life, we can feel the spirit of that source coming down around us as the torus overflows. We feel the waters of the torus. We might name this experience as being a child of God. We are born out of the source of who we are. And as a child of God, we can feel the arms of the Father in this outpouring of the flow of His fountain of life, raining down upon us.

We use that word Father as a symbol of something, recognizing that the source of things is not literally a dad, but like a father, holding our spiritual DNA and bringing us love and care and a surround and encompassment, with arms that are the flow of the torus.

The fountain is a symbol of you and me. It is a symbolic portrayal of who we each are as an individual human being, reminding us of the flow that is natural to us. And if we have lost our flow, perhaps by just sitting next to a fountain, we can remind ourselves of our own flow as a human being.

How do we initiate that flow? Looking at a fountain, somebody built it in the first place. So if you wanted to have a flow, you might build a fountain. But we are really not in the position of having to build the fountain. We are already built. We are a fountain. And if the flow is sluggish in us, how do we accelerate the flow? Is it not by praise and thanksgiving? Through praise and thanksgiving, we allow the flow of the water to come up through us in our joy and gratitude for all that we have been given. And so we surrender our life to the source of it. Here, have it back! It is all given back to You.

So we stop holding on to things. We tend to hold on to our lives as our own as human beings, do we not? Throughout the faiths of the world, there is a teaching of surrender. The very word Islam means “to surrender.” So I could easily join a Muslim man on his carpet, facing Mecca, bowing in an act of surrender. I give up my life—it is Yours.

And in that act of surrender and upward release, we are not left void and blank. We are opening up the flow of the torus, and we are filled again as the torus’ flow. The arms of the Father—the flow of the torus—is coming down around us. We are offering our waters to the world. And our word does not come back void. The fountain’s waters keep coming back, and now we are enjoying the flow of life.

Now let us look at our spiritual community. Do you think there might be a fountain among us collectively? The fountain is not just something individual. It is holographically present for any grouping of human beings and for all of us as humankind. There is a fountain. And yet, is the fountain flowing? Is the One Faith present, which is faith in the working of the fountain and the Law of Cause and Effect?

There is something that has become broken in the flow of the collective fountain for us as human beings. The result is that any community that forms has to face that brokenness and either overcome it or let it break apart that community. Why would this community be any different? When we see the situation with enlightened eyes, we realize that this is an opportunity to affirm the One Faith and restore what has become broken in our collective experience.

So we are here as a spiritual community to know the fountain in ourselves and share the fountain together. Now I am bringing my fountain to your fountain and yours to mine. And we say to each other, Remember the fountain. Feel the fountain. Here it is in me. Feel it in yourself. We find our collective center, that place among us all together where our collective praise rises to the One Source of the One Faith.

Now we join our voices as one voice singing, one people, One Faith, one fountain. We find our true center as a spiritual community. We find our common love and our shared reality. We find the one love that we know and share among us. We find the one truth—not my truth, not some dogmatic truth, not a so-called truth built from human belief. A truth beyond belief—one reality that we share in common, in harmony, as the fountain.

And who will be a voice of our collective praise? Who will be a voice of our collective praise, saying, Here is the center of our fountain! Let us lift up our voices together to the source of all in this one fountain.

Any of us could be that voice. It could be the voice of the littlest angel. It could be from the so-called greatest among us, the so-called least among us—anyone can be a voice of praise and thanksgiving for this spiritual community. And so it is in any community of any kind, any family, any town, any nation, and any of the many faiths of the world. Anyone could be a voice for the One Faith and for the one fountain that we are.

Will you be that voice? Will I be that voice to reinitiate the flow of the fountain? Knowing that when we offer everything up, released to the Beloved—here, have it!—nothing is lost. In fact, it is all restored. Life is given back to us when we give it away.
