I invite you to meditate on these words from Habakkuk. They might be seen as a prophecy for all the world. Of more immediate interest is that they are a recipe for individual spiritual function.

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14)

The word translated here as Lord is more directly translated from Hebrew as Jehovah, which I understand as a name for God in creative action through humanity. Individually, Jehovah is the Wonderful One within coming into the world through the human being.

The earth being referred to could be many things. A good place to start is our own physical bodies. Let this earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Wonderful One within. From the standpoint of that One, My glory shall fill this body. This body shall be filled with Light.

It’s interesting that that word knowledge is used in the biblical verse. Knowledge relates to consciousness and the substance that carries consciousness. So this earth shall be filled with the consciousness of the glory of the Lord. Glory is the energy of Life.

As human beings, we live in a field of consciousness and energy. Our energy follows our consciousness, whether we are thinking of our own body, the circumstance in which we find ourselves, or the whole earth. The energy in your body changes when your consciousness of your body changes. When you are thankful for your body, whatever size and shape it is in, whatever its state of health, you release the energy of Life into it.

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.

Our bodies are meant to be filled with the consciousness and energy of the Wonderful One who lives in that body.

I live at Sunrise Ranch, in a beautiful valley in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Northern Colorado. There is red sandstone rock on the east side of the valley that we call the Rimrock, and pine-covered granite hills on the other side that we call Green Ridge. This being Colorado, there are vistas that take in the landscape for miles. As I look out upon our pastures, as I watch elk grazing or bluebirds lighting upon a mullein stalk… As I gaze upon my home, I say this prayer to myself: Let this valley be filled with peace. Let it be filled with Love. Let it be filled with Light. Let it be filled with the Wonderful One Within. Let this earth, let this valley be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.

When I think these thoughts, I am not hoping for God to come into the valley from on high, irrespective of me. That’s already happening. I am opening myself to let the reality of God from within myself fill my home.

Let this earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

I felt the presence of that glory the first time I came to Sunrise Ranch. I was twenty-three at the time. I drove into this valley, looked up at the Rimrock, and I felt the presence of God in this place. If you have been here, you may have felt the same thing. I came to understand that what I saw and felt in this place was because of the people who live here.

Wherever you find yourself, you have this same opportunity—to fill your own body with divine presence and to fill your immediate world with that same reality.

There is a third application of this truth that relates to the people in your world. As it relates to the people who inhabit my home, this is my prayer:

Let the earth of these people in this valley be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, in our physical flesh, and also in the substance of heart and mind for each of us, and then in the flesh of our collective heart and mind. Let this collective flesh be filled with the knowing of the glory of the Wonderful One that is within us, that we are. As that One, we are stepping into this flesh, we are present, sharing our glory at all levels of the flesh of who we are.

Celebrate the presence of the Wonderful One within. So often, people identify themselves in limited ways, based on their past, based on their upbringing, based on their intellectual understanding or their place in the world. The truest reality of who we are is the Wonderful One within. We have love that is innate, born out of the reality of who we are. Who we are isn’t trying to love; it isn’t trying to find love. Who we are is loving in this oh-so-incredible way. We cannot stop ourselves; we cannot help ourselves, actually. We can love in distorted, painful ways. But as long as we are alive, we love. That is the reality of who we are. And the reality of who we are has Light to shine, has wisdom, knowledge and understanding to bring.

Love through the human heart is the fire that burns, the presence of the living God. The Light of Being, the truth through a human mind, is the Light that glows in the world. And when that is happening, the spirit of Life is filling the human form, and there is the cloud of glory, the presence of the Wonderful One within, emanating out, filling the earth, as the waters cover the sea. As the Wonderful One within, it is our desire to fill the earth of our own bodies and the whole earth with the presence of our Being, as the waters cover the sea. The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, the knowledge of the Wonderful One within all people, within you, within me.

This poem, To the End of Time, expresses my victorious experience of this reality:

Since the beginning of the world
I have loved you,
and sounded with your primeval tone.

Since the beginning of the world
I have thrilled to hear your voice,
see your face,
and know your love.

So here am I on this day
in the aura of your shining,
growing strong
in the corona of your will.

A man walks
in a shadow of brilliant light,
in the ascending flame of a white-hot fire,
and in the reverberation of life itself.

Today a man serves his Lord as a friend
and as a king in his own world,
fulfilling your dream
to the end of time.
