On this Solstice Day, four days before Christmas morn, let us celebrate the woman who brought Jesus of Nazareth into the world, Mother Mary. Beyond traditional religious iconography, let us find the woman who birthed him, protected him, stood by him, and carried on after him. And in celebrating her, let us celebrate Mother God, who watches over all living things, and who blesses all people from above. And let us celebrate all women, and indeed, all those whose human hands and hearts are given to Mother God, who embody her Love in the world.
In this gathering today, we know the Spirit of the Womb with which she surrounds and blesses the world. Through our presence, we bring the Empowerment of her Love to all people.
Here is the story of how she carried the infant and her greeting of her cousin, Elisabeth, mother of John the Baptist.
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
And it came to pass that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.
And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.
— Luke 1:38-56
And this is from the Christmas Story:
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
— Luke 2:15-19
The shepherds proclaimed. But this simple statement expressed a life attitude for Mary: Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Here was the Spirit of the Womb working through her.
When, at twelve, Jesus stayed in Jerusalem to speak with the learned men of the temple, his parents, unknowingly, left him behind. When they located him, they found it hard to understand why it had happened. But as it is said, his mother kept all Jesus said to her in her heart.
While many of the disciples hid, Mother Mary was there at the foot of the cross during the crucifixion—an unimaginable agony for her to endure. But she was there for him.
After Jesus left this sphere, Mary was there on the Day of Pentecost, holding the miracle that transpired in prayer. She had committed herself to allowing what her son had initiated to continue.
So let us celebrate Mother Mary in this Christmas season. And in celebrating her, celebrate the Spirit of Mother God who holds all in her great heart.

I am thankful to be here with all of you on this Solstice Day, so close to Christmas. We have the opportunity to remember Mother Mary, who was a living presence of Mother God, whom we can all experience and express.

It’s beyond gender, and I’d like to start there. We can all express and experience Mother God and Father God beyond our gender. And from this human capacity, let us focus on the opportunity to express Mother God in our unique ways, each offering our unique vibe that we are empowered to express.
If you’ve taken our programs, you may know that we identify on the Sun Cross the place of the sovereign, the warrior, the magician, and the lover. The sovereign is the king or queen we are. Are we not kings and queens of our worlds? All that the light of awareness touches is our responsibility and our opportunity.
Usually, we teach that empowerment comes from the sovereign empowering the warrior to take action. The warrior receives that empowerment with loyalty to the sovereign. But we want to take it a step further. Let’s allow that empowerment to not only go into action, but into the mind and the heart. So right now, we are looking at opening up to that empowerment first in the place of the sovereign.
These are all symbols for our mind and heart to relate to. The symbols are just the beginning of the opportunity we have to open up to what wants to come through us.
The loyalty of the inner warrior does not always speak with a loud voice. It could be a silent strength—a strength that holds center, that holds steady and does not leave the truth when things get turbulent. Mother Mary was a beautiful example of staying steady throughout Jesus’ life and holding all the things that were happening in her heart.
That is what we have the opportunity to do in our minds as well as hearts. I’m calling it a spiritual labor. Ever held steady in a stressful situation? I’m sure we all have. And perhaps you couldn’t believe you got through it. You didn’t run. You didn’t give up. You stayed steady, not knowing the answer sometimes, not knowing if you could even get through it. That is Mother God through you. That is staying steady and opening to what wants to happen, and being okay with not knowing the answer.
Sometimes not doing anything is a spiritual labor. What about the opportunity to let go and let be? Quiet strength without getting hard inside. No drama.
I invite you to join me in a meditation. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Relax your shoulders and exhale. Now open your hands and raise them up to your shoulders, bending at the elbow up as if creating a chalice.
We are a chalice right here, right now. We take this opportunity, this moment, to open our human capacities to the empowerment of the angel wanting to come through. We know we are meeting things in our worlds personally that we may not have the answer for right now. We may not even know if we have the capacity to get through. But we also know we have the opportunity to tap into what is larger, what animates all things—the ultimate plan, the ultimate Guide, wisdom, strength, and power. And we are here in our steadiness, ready to birth what is ours to birth. Open, open, open. We surround our thoughts, encompass our lives, holding the body of humankind.
Place your hands on your heart, if you like, grounding that. That is something we can do in each moment when we have nothing—when we don’t know what to do. Just say, I’m here for this.

I so deeply love the empowerment that the Spirit of Mother God gives to the open heart. And that’s what I’m here to represent today. What a perfect design this is! But it requires the passion and the commitment to maintain openness, as Keahi was so beautifully conveying. Clarity and purity of heart are keys to our relationship with Spirit. When they are present, the empowerment of Mother God can move on through our minds and our actions within this reality of heart. The seeds of Love are planted, and in the rhythms of life itself can be nourished, and grow. Those seeds are held safe in the spiritual current of Mother God, in which there is deep appreciation for life in all of its forms. So, let us go further in considering this together.
The sweet texture and beauty of this instrument of heart require conscious dedication to the truth of the Spirit of the Mother—the essence of warmth, strength, holiness, courage, welcome, endless Love, just to name a few. These essences are available through each and every one of us.
This quality of expression requires that our hearts are ever available, ever open to the way of Spirit, in answer to the call of the Divine. It requires openness to what is being called forth from you and from me. And at the same time, there has to be an alert awareness to sense what is needed, hearing the call, and being quick to offer our gifts.
Of late, I’ve noted the vigilance required to remain open to the Spirit more fully than ever before. There has to be a release of what no longer serves, rejoicing in the process and acknowledging the increase in the space within oneself for the light of Spirit to shine.
With an open heart, there is a passion to see oneself and others with the purity of the Christ Spirit. In this way, we find the One Reality from which we all reveal ourselves and bless the world. We have come for this.
From the biblical readings we shared, what jumped out to me was this phrase: Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. That was her attitude, through the birth of Jesus, the growing-up years, even following the crucifixion, and at Pentecost. She never strayed from her loyal stance relative to the One. She continued in the way of the Lord with purity and consistency. Those powers of the Spirit of the Womb are available to each and every one of us.
I am sure the temptation to stray or doubt was there for her. But she held to the truth of her promise to God in her great heart through all of the cycles, revealing the profound presence of trust and strength that was ever available through the challenges. I am sure she was aware of what came that might have violated this pure presence—just like we are—testing her ability to choose and reveal Spirit. And yet, Mary kept all of these things and pondered them in her heart.
We are all vividly aware of the chaos of the outer world, even at times in our own hearts and minds, and our close-in world. The fact that the Spirit of the Christ is still acknowledged and celebrated, I find to be so profound—a glorious miracle. We have every opportunity to deliberately feel, know, and express that Spirit in all its glory.
I give great thanks for the Heart of Being, and for the heart of each one who is drawn to the Christ Light within and recognizes the Being that they are being, an aspect of the body of the expression of the One. As we open ourselves to hold and reveal that One, we are ever increasingly filled with the glory and the celebration that is ours to bring on this day and every day.

I had a beautiful meditation this morning. I got up early and contemplated the gifts that Mother God gives our mind when we are open to it.
Thank you, Marilyn, for speaking of how the empowerment of Mother God comes to the heart, which is essential in order for it to then flow to the mind. And what I have noticed in my own experience—especially over the last year—is a greater and greater illumination of my mind.
When our mind begins to be empowered by the spirit of the Great Mother, we can move from fear to trust, from fear to faith. There is an inner knowing and an inner trusting of the outworking of life, even if we don’t have all the answers. Do you think that this might affect the thoughts that we have?
The spirit of the Great Mother prepares our mind to receive. That manifests as a tranquil knowing that all is well—the ability to be steady in the face of a problem, a circumstance, a change in life that may be welcomed or not. At the center of that, empowerment comes to the mind as I am willing to receive the guidance and the understanding of why this is here. What is mine to learn? What is the gift that I am here to bring?
When I look at the ways this has changed in my own mental realm, I realize that this change is moving from a need to control to surrender. What a gift!
We spoke of Mother Mary and how she held everything in her heart. She also held what was transpiring in her mind—in a place of surrender, willingness to be guided and penetrated by the highest love, the highest truth, and to be penetrated by something that brings life and life more abundantly in the stillness. That takes a quiet mind, a tranquil mind, a mind that is willing to receive the Light of Truth, that is willing to receive the Fire of Love. That changes everything. This is my experience. And it keeps on changing, the gift keeps on giving, the gift keeps on growing.
For me, I am really looking at how my mind has lessened its grip and come to a place of willingness to allow Spirit, to allow Love, to allow Truth to guide my life. The burden is light from that perspective. The mind can go from fragmentation to coherence. It can know coherence with the heart.
The gift that comes from that is our capacity to see ourselves and each other through eyes of compassion. Do you think that could change the world? Allowing the gift of Mother God to fully penetrate and quell the voice that says, I’m not worthy, I’m not loved. I’m not lovable. I can’t do this. I’m too young. I’m too old. I can’t do it. The spirit of Mother God quells that voice and empowers me to know that Yes, I can. I am an embodiment of cosmic forces of Creation. I am fueled by Spirit from on high. I am fueled by Love. I stand in the truth of Being. I stand in the light that I am, and I allow the gifts of the Great Mother to fully express through me.
These gifts quiet the mind that is giving us the negative messages—the messages that have been handed down through the generations, and the ones that we have created ourselves. And as they quiet, we move from judgment to discernment.
This is a gift of the Great Mother—the ability to discern what is true, and so to move from wanting to be the noise in the room to being the listener; to move from Look at me, to Feel me in my stillness, in my presence, in my wisdom.
If I were to wrap this up in one word, it would be wisdom. This is a great gift to the mind—to be wise, because we are unmoved by all the things we see working out in our world.
This gift informs every single choice that we make, every word that we speak, and every action that we take. We can move from impatience to the willingness to allow to gestate what wants to be born, which is the Christ Spirit. No womb, no birth.
And so, these are some of the gifts that I feel that are on the move, not just in me, but in us collectively. The return of the Great Mother is a real thing. In all ways, it is moving in our capacities. The mind is an important part of this. Thoughts become things. And when we surrender to this, we come to know it. There is a sensing that I am guided. We are guided from on high.
The gift of the Great Mother brings us to that place where we can move from the fear of the unknown into trusting that we are the womb space for the coming of the Christ Spirit to be born through every one of us and all of us collectively.

Are we not just like Mary, who kept all things and pondered them in her heart? We are holding things inside. I am. The Spirit of the Womb is working through each one of us. Are we not all committed to this legacy—an amazing unfolding, a birth of the greatest light in our time. We commit to fulfill a victory that was demonstrated by one individual so that we, as the body of humankind, have a collective victory, so that we are empowered together?
These essences and energies are rising within me as they are in the Pulse of Spirit that was so beautifully spoken and written by David Karchere last week. And I am sure that these energies and essences are arising within you, too, letting the authority of Spirit become our stature, giving us courage to speak truth, confidence to bless, and the noble strength to activate gifts through ourselves, yes. But what about activating and encouraging gifts in others? This is the time.
We intend to fulfill our purpose, and individually, we know it at this time, in our troubled world. Let’s fulfill God’s will as our own will becomes entrained and aligned within the larger will of life.
Also, what about an idea that can become an ideal and manifest the fulfilment of a dream, a vision, a burning passion for a new creation? I have a painting next to me here by my friend. She painted the cosmos and how it is speaking to humankind. There is a deep calling for something greater, for something higher and finer than known heretofore.
How may we fulfill our purpose by opening to Mother God, as Keahi so beautifully demonstrated, and listen deeply to the heart, as Marilyn spoke about? How may we open to the wisdom of the mind, attuned to possibility, as Sece shared with us? And then, take the steps that assure us that fulfillment is not only possible, but a reality with our assurance and courage.
When we know these things for ourselves in the unique ways that we are made, we can know fulfillment as a collective body, bringing knowledge into our whole community in full glory and radiance.
As strong as the sun was shining today in South Africa for many hours—the long, long day—what greater purpose is there than to gratefully and gracefully be about this purpose together. I am here for this. How about you?

What a wonderful journey we have been on. I feel like we are in a different place from when I first stood here. Do you?
We feel the empowerment as a living movement of Mother God entering us, and then there is the empowerment of the heart, the mind, and the fulfillment of divine purpose. Now the invitation is not just to admire it, but to join it and be that in our worlds.
So, I invite you to reflect on this: Where does Mother God want to empower your life right here and now? This moment, this day, this week, this new year coming? Where is tenderness becoming strength? What thoughts need to be reshaped by truth? Where is your next faithful step asking to be born?
I invite you, again, to close your eyes and become the chalice, bending your arms up. Take a deep breath and relax into that. We are here for this.
You can speak these words out loud if you like:
Mother God, I receive your empowerment.
Hold my heart. Surround my thoughts. Guide my steps.
Hold my heart. Surround my thoughts. Guide my steps.
Thank you All!!! How beautiful!!!
Mother God, I receive your empowerment.
Hold my heart. Surround my thoughts. Guide my steps.
Hold my heart. Surround my thoughts. Guide my steps.
