What did the Apostle John say about the first step in his experience of the revelation of Reality?
And I turned…
—Revelation 1:12
That was the meaning behind Jesus’s gospel.
Turn, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
In that case, it was immediately at hand through him, but also available from inside the person.
You are not facing it. You are ignoring it. You have your back to it. You are blaming and accusing.
Turn. Heaven is at hand.
Teshuvah. Turn.
I invite you to have an embodied experience of turning. After reading these instructions, physically turn your back to this Pulse of Spirit that you are reading. As you look away, reflect on what it feels like to be engrossed in the issues of your world without Attunement with the spiritual power within you. Think of the emotions that take over when you look at a world through eyes of fear, doubt, and desperation.
After taking a few moments to touch the feeling of those things, engage in a conscious act of turning to the source of your own creativity and joy. Embody that conscious act by a physical act of turning back to this Pulse of Spirit. Turn your awareness to the source that lights you up, inspires you, lifts your heart, and brings comfort and healing to you and through you to the world.
Now give yourself the time to engage in this process. Take your time.
* * * * * *
We turn to the source of human hope, inspiration, enthusiasm, and love. Thank you for engaging in that process.
How many gates are there to the holy city of consciousness? Twelve gates—three gates to the east, three gates to the west, three gates to the north, three gates to the south. In every gate, an angel. The streets of the city are made out of gold.
The holy city is a self-replicating pattern. It is present within the individual. We are each a holy city. We are made to have streets of gold and twelve gates with an angel at each gate. It is the same pattern that replicates itself throughout the body of humankind. We, as the body of humankind, are made to be the holy city.
We, as a universal priesthood, are a holy city. We are made that way to be that for the world—to need no sun because the light of Being is the sun of this city.
Twelve angels. I want to give names to these twelve angels to make this real. And in calling out their names, I will invoke their spirit.
What happens when the Angel of Response shows up? What happens in our life when the Angel of Response shows up through a person, and there is heart response to Spirit?
I just received an email last night from someone who attended the memorial service for Shareen Ewing yesterday online. She and I had been disconnected for decades now. We have never been particularly close personally. She lives in another country. Nonetheless, I have mad love for this person. She wrote because she had a moving experience in the memorial service and reconnected with this body of people and me in that process, and wanted share that. This person is an Angel of Response—someone with a beautiful, open-hearted, joyous response to life. What a gift!
How about the Angel of the Spirit of Love? Is there someone who shows up as that in your life—who brings that spirit to other people, who just exudes it? Shareen Ewing was an Angel of Love who stood at Love’s gate and let it flow.
Do you know an Angel of Openness? Someone who lives with an open heart? Someone who is unabashed and unashamed? A person who shows you the depth and range of their feeling realm? And when you see them, you might think, Wow! I could be that way. I could live life with an open heart. I could show people who I am in the deepest sense. Let us each be an Angel of Openness.
How about the Angel of Sight? Someone who, when they cast their eyes upon you, makes you feel like you are being truly seen and understood. They have the eyes to see you.
The Angel of Sight brings understanding. Let us be that angel in our world. Let us show up that way with other people. Let us be the Angel of Sight.
How about the Angel of Diligence? We love it when we have somebody like that in our life. They tend to things large and small. They stay until it is done. Where I live, at Sunrise Ranch, the Angel of Diligence shows up all over the place—cooking delicious meals, pulling the weeds, setting up chairs for meetings, and so much more.
And how about the Angel of Direction? You could have a bunch of diligent people, but if there is no clear direction, they are just running around. The Angel of Direction knows what needs to be done with things large and small. They are the point guard on the basketball team, the chef in the kitchen, and the quarterback of the football team. The Angel of Direction is the one who brings heavenly order to all that we do.
How about the Angel of Loyalty? Again, I think of Shareen Ewing. She never left her post. She never stopped being devoted to the Ones she loved. The Angel of Loyalty lets the things of heaven land on Earth.
Then there is the Angel of Empowerment. Have you ever had someone like that in your life? Someone who comes along and, in effect, says, Yes, you can do it. You are made for this. It is your commission to do this in your life. You are empowered. You are empowered from within. But I am next to you to say so. And saying so makes a difference, doesn’t it? When somebody comes along and says, You are a great artist, you are a great writer, or you are a magnificent cook, it makes a difference. And the Angel of Empowerment doesn’t just empower your outer capabilities. They empower who you are inside. They empower you to be yourself. Let us be Angels of Empowerment.
How about the Angel of Inspiration? You know people like that, I am sure. They come along and make you think things you had not thought before. They bring a sense of possibility, where perhaps there had not been any. If you are disillusioned or feeling that there is nothing you can do, when the Angel of Inspiration comes along, you start seeing possibility where there had been none.
Uranda is like that for me. He is not even physically on the planet anymore. But as I listen to the audios of his message, he is the Angel of Inspiration. He makes me see the world anew.
How about the Angel of Imagination, who not only inspires, but is actually having all those fantastic thoughts that you never contemplated before? The Angel of Imagination sees potential and entertains ideas that nobody else has. What would life be without the Angel of Imagination? And if we don’t become the Angel of Imagination for ourselves and for the world in which we live, that world is not going very far. It becomes same old, same old. We need the Angel of Imagination.
How about the Angel of Protection? Someone on hand who says, “I got your back. I got your heart. I am not only here with you, I’m here for you. I’m here for what we are doing together. And no destructive energy enters in and destroys this holy city. I am the Angel of Protection.”
The last angel we come to is the Angel of Encouragement. It is said that the last vial of poison in the devil’s toxic apothecary is discouragement. And even if nothing else gets a person, what sometimes takes them down is discouragement. No matter what else has happened, if the toxicity of discouragement takes over in a person’s life—and it can happen without them even knowing it—it can go to rack and ruin. And the same with humanity. If we, as humanity, become discouraged, there is no way forward. There is no heart to go forward. We need the Angel of Encouragement. Who will be the Angel of Encouragement for others? For the world? We need her now. We need him now.
These are the 12 gates to the holy city, and there is an angel at each with the power to open it. Let us be those angels. And let us welcome them when they appear.
We all have access to all these gates. We can also acknowledge that some people seem to have a special gift to open a certain gate. Somebody shows up, and we might think to ourselves, Yes, there is the Angel of Openness. There is the Angel of Diligence. Or whoever it is.
Let us open the gates of the holy city. This is how spiritual things become real.
On Awakening each morning – this is a wonderful way to impress the day in our mind –
Let us open the gates of the holy city. This is how spiritual things become real
