Last week, we were speaking about the torus, which is the shape of the Milky Way galaxy and all Creation. At its center is what we call a black hole. It has been named Sagittarius A*, and our solar system takes over 200 million years to make each revolution around it. You can feel the scope of what we are participating in here. And, of course, that is microscopic next to the expanse of the cosmos. It is good to feel its vastness and good to allow the principles of Creation to occur in our own life, including the principle of the torus.
The principle of the torus became common knowledge only recently. It was first discovered and spoken about centuries ago, but it has only been in the last 50 years that it has become a popular concept.
It is interesting to me that Uranda spoke of the same thing using the simple symbology of the figure 8 — a circle above, a circle below. But they are not just circling; they are moving in a stream from the top circle to the bottom one and back up again. The upper circle represents a realm that we cannot see.
Do you believe in realms you cannot see? We can all prove to ourselves that they are real, because when you open to it, it lands in this realm that we can see and experience. All the wonder of what you cannot see becomes embodied in and expressed through your own life and in your own world. It is already happening, but for the most part, people are asleep to that. But when you open your awareness to it, there it is, lit up in awareness. Spiritual practice is a lot about opening our awareness to an inner realm or higher realm — you can use whatever word you want to use.
There is the vastness of the Milky Way galaxy and the torus that it embodies. But that pattern of the torus is replicated through Creation, including for us as individuals. There is a black hole for each of us.
I know the name sounds a little ominous. In this Emissary program, we have termed what is otherwise called the black hole the crossover point, that point at which the inner realms cross over into creative expression and awareness through a human being. It is that point in the figure 8 where the upper circle touches the lower one.
We are called to stand at that crossover point and become aware of inner realms. It sounds esoteric, but it is oh so real when we stand there.
We are talking about the process of Creation, are we not, when we speak of this flow of the figure 8 or the flow of the torus? It is how the world is created, sustained, and how it continues in that flow. It is how a human life is sustained and continues.
If a person has left the crossover point, they find themselves somewhere in the tide of the torus in the lower circle, tossed and turned in the surf of life. If you surf, you have probably had the experience of being tossed in a breaking wave, perhaps being scraped by the sand below. It is not where we belong when we are surfing or in life. We belong at the crossover point where what is above can cross over through us and into the world, and what is coming back to us can be received and lifted up in praise. That is the flow of the torus. We stand there.
There are two functions there at that crossover point, to simplify it. There is the outflow of what is moving through consciousness, through expression, and into the world, the powers of Creation that are moving through us. And there is that which is returning to Source. We are here for all of that as human beings.
If you want to split it out this way, there is the positive masculine expression into the world for a man or a woman. And there is the receiving of what is coming back from the world. That is the function of the divine feminine, and it is built into all of us and is absolutely necessary and natural in our function to be there for all that.
That is true for each and every one of us. It is also true of the Milky Way galaxy, and it is true of us collectively in this creative field that we are sharing even now around the world. There is a center to that field. There is a crossover point. We have an opportunity to come to that crossover point for this field.
One of my favorite hymns is a traditional gospel hymn, “Shall We Gather at the River?” For some, the song is filled with Christian concepts. But as I see it, the river being spoken of is the flow of the torus, the flow of the figure 8. Shall we gather at the flow that moves through the crossover point? Shall we gather with the saints at the river? Who are those saints? The saints of old? Or the saints of now? Those who gather at the river, at the crossover point, who populate it, who hold both the positive expression of Reality coming through the crossover point and also the receiving of what comes from the world, lifting it up, raising it up in praise and gratitude.
Certainly, any creative field needs both functions, whether it is the Milky Way galaxy or this field that we populate. It needs both the positive expression of power and authority, bringing the pattern of the inner realm to the outer realm, and the receiving of what returns from the outer realm.
I spoke last week about how Foster Gamble hypothesized that there was a city within the black hole, as he put it, not speaking of this in religious terms. In Revelation, John spoke of it as the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven — an inner realm finding expression in the outer realm.
Is that not what human beings are attempting to do, however unconsciously or unsuccessfully? To take something they are aware of inside — a reality, a pattern, something beautiful that they know is possible in the world — and to attempt to replicate that pattern where they are in their lives on earth, whether as a single human being, a family, a community, or ultimately for all humankind?
Humanity has fumbled terribly in the process. We have been rolled in the surf. And yet there is the urge to express the New Jerusalem in our families, our communities, and wherever we go. And that is what is needed. And if we have left the crossover point, we have to come back to it, to open to that inner realm and give it expression — to walk the beauty way, and beauty is the secret of life.
Standing at the crossover point, we know that secret. We touch it. There are almost no words for the awesome beauty of the inner realm. It is like a voice in the distance, a vision, a promise that is there, waiting to be opened to and then allowed to stream through moment after moment. And then with all that is happening in our world, in the flow of the torus, with the working of the law, we are called to receive what is coming back.
With the state of our world, who wants to receive it? There is so much happening that can be troubling. And yet if it is not received, the torus never has a chance to flow as the fountain of life. And the flow never has a chance to purify. The purification happens in the flow. And the creative evolution of the world in which we live happens not only because of our courage to bring what is above into it, but also our courage to receive what is happening in it and allow it to be purified in the flow and uplifted, at least the parts of it that can be.
It all did originate in the higher realm, and surely we can see elements of that higher realm in the beauty of what comes back in our life. Let us be about welcoming that and lifting that up and being grateful for that. We can be so obsessed with holding the whole world at bay that we do not notice what is beautiful. But there is beauty in what is returning. And the evolution of it all depends on our ability to stand at the crossover point without moving and receive it.
So how about that crossover point for this field that we are sharing? Shall we gather at the river? Shall we find each other at the crossover point?
I think that generally, as human beings, we struggle with how to speak of spiritual things. Sometimes it seems like spiritual and religious institutions have stolen all the good words. And if you use any of those good words, you become enmeshed in all their doctrines, practice, and dogma. If you communicate any of the words with other people who have dogmatic thinking around them, you are sunk. We could use the word heaven for the inner realm and sometimes do. But what does that evoke for another person?
I am thinking of one of those words that may sound archaic and thus has its limitations. The word is Lord. It seems to come out of the feudal system of Europe, but its origins are far more ancient than that. In the King James Bible, it is a translation of the Hebrew word Adonai or of another word referring to Divine Presence. When William Tyndale translated the Hebrew Bible into English in 1530, he used the word Lord, presumably because it was the most relatable word for people of his day. As he said, he sought to create an English translation of the Bible that could be understood by the boy behind the plow.
But Christians are not the only ones to use the word Lord or an equivalent. Hinduism refers to Lord Krishna. Ancient Incas, Mayans, and Sumerians used equivalent words. Many other traditions have used such a word as well.”
As much as possible, we can strip away the cultural background of the word and know that it names a higher reality that is in the inner realm. It names how all that inner realm comes to focus. Just as this immediate world that we live in comes to focus in us, the inner realm comes to focus.
How would I prove it to you? I cannot really, can I? But there is a reality in that inner realm that we serve rightly. Standing at the crossover point, we are serving that inner reality. And how do you serve the inner realm without serving the Presence that is there? It is not made up only of the structures of the holy city. What is up there? Castles and clouds? Or is it populated, too, in the most beautiful way?
You could say this is religious fancy. But think of this as a matter of faith. And contemplate the difference between living a life where there is no higher realm — nothing but what you have going on here. And I am not trying to deny that we live in a world that is what it is. But there is a world of potentiality, which is the inner realm. And think of a life that has no awareness of that inner realm. All it is aware of is what is tumbling in the surf.
And then think of a life where there is a vivid awareness of a reality that transcends this one. Not one we escape to, but one that we open to and that can fill our consciousness with beauty, power, inspiration, and the urge to thrive.
Think of a life where the only leader of it all that you see is the current president of the United States, and that is the focal point of human identity and human experience of selfhood. Then think of a life where there is an awareness of what is pointed to by that word, Lord — someone who is exquisitely beautiful, noble, and worthy of acknowledgment and worthy of being in service to. I will take the latter life.
I could call it a matter of faith. I think oftentimes when the word faith is used, it speaks of having a belief in something you do not know and cannot see or experience. You just have to have faith. Hang on for dear life and have faith.
This is not that kind of faith. When you open to this inner realm, it comes to you. And you do not just try to believe in it. It becomes real in expression through you. The reality of who we are is present in it, and it is right here.
Shall we gather at the river? Shall we know that Reality together? And, knowing that Reality and being in the flow of it, shall we speak and act and think and feel with the authority of the Creator in the Creation, which is our calling as human beings?
Good to be in this meditation with you. Here is what I would like to do, if I can prevail on Anne-Lise to help out.
What I want to invite is words from people online who feel inspired to contribute to this meditation. I suggest that each be a sentence and no more. As they start to stream through, Anne-Lise can give voice to them in the flow of the torus that we are sharing together here. So, I am going to sit down, I think, and allow that to happen, and you just keep flowing with those words as long as they keep flowing.
Anne-Lise Bure:
Ascension.
May we gather at the river and let the power of it surge within us.
May the true inner realm be known in all the outer realms.
True belonging.
Beauty has been born through the wonder of the torus in this hour.
May we be as gentle as a lamb and as courageous as a lion in the expression of divine truth and love. Let us feel the mystery and the absoluteness of Reality within this faith. Let holiness reign in our experience. Let there be accepting and receiving of all beliefs and opinions, lifting these up in love for all that is.
May our hearts and minds align to consciously express our true inner being. May harmony in our lives lead to peace in our surroundings.
The power of the river is in us.
I keep the promise already given and prove faithful, living at and from the crossover point, living the beauty way.
Be quiet and let love flow.
May the waters of the river purify within the torus of our everyday living.
To be the Emissary, the one who is in service to the Lord of all, the Creator of all things.
We come together to bring the power of agreement with our King to our worlds.
Let your gentleness be evident to all.
Let this be a new day in which we can speak the name of the Lord. And speak and act and think in the authority of our Creator together and understand and know what we mean by that.
Let love radiate.
David Karchere: Thank you, Anne-Lise. Thank you all who are contributing to this flow. And let us hear a brief word from people here in the room.
We have the ability. We are here, and as we let that toroidal flow — in to the Lord, in expression out — nothing will stop us.
I stand at the crossover point and take my place.
May the galactic center bring love through the wavelength of each heart.
Desiring the divine, we find satisfaction within.
David Karchere: Shall we gather at the river? These are lyrics from a song, but for me they are more than that. I am saying those words for real. Shall we gather at the river? Shall we gather at the crossover point? Shall we gather at the Sagittarius A* of this galaxy? Shall we stand at the core of this galaxy together? Shall we populate that core and find each other here?
I say we shall.
